First professional appearance with a symphony orchestra, (1952) the Jackson, Mississippi Symphony... "an unqualified success. In addition to displaying a notable voice and true understanding of the music he sang, he demonstrated that invaluable ability to communicate with his audience from the very first."

Following two special concerts during Germany's Bundesgartenschau in 1967, his picture appeared in the Badische Neueste Nachrichten the next day with the caption: "Karlsruhe's New Public Favorite, the American baritone, Robert Morris. Morris did not hesitate to announce his songs in flawless German. His program of songs by Schubert, Wolf, Brahms, and Richard Strauss conquered the hearts of the listeners."

"Robert Morris, a gifted vocalist and musician, brought to the baritone role a voice that is extremely beautiful and expertly trained. He was apparently equally at home in the lyrical as well as the melismatic portions and showed a complete and mature understanding of his part. In all of his singing, he exercised the most refined musical taste and artistry."

"...baritone Robert Morris was consistently arousing (with) a confident grasp of his material, and he was able to project this security into an intelligent and dramatically engaging display of power throughout his range."
